Puchong
General:
Puchong is a vibrant and dynamic major town with an estimated population of 400,000 (2016 stats). The former tin mining town has transformed into one of the newer towns in the Klang Valley and its rapid expansion has been helped by its central location and good road network. Commercial and residential development projects only started to sprout in the 1980s. Kinrara, Puchong Jaya, Bandar Puteri, Puchong Utama, Bukit Puchong are freehold and former rubber estates; Taman Kinrara 1 to 5 are on leasehold land and used to be tin-mining areas.
The remnant of old developments can still be seen in new villages such as Kampung Baru Batu 14 and the Air Hitam Forest Reserve has provided a respite and natural retreat area for Puchong folks.
Areas
Puchong is comprised of an area of 51.71 km2. It has a wide areas of coverage and was governed by three local councils. Namely the 5th to 7th mile stretch is under Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), Kinrara to 16th mile is under Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ).The rest such as Bukit Puchong 2, 16 Sierra, Pulau Meranti and Taman Mas, is under Sepang Municipal Council.(MPS)

Commercial Landmark
There are a few landmark developments & commercial buildings being built in the vicinity of Puchong town area. Among others, Tesco, IOI Mall (which has a multiplex and bowling alley), Giant, Jusco, Puchong Parade and Puchong Plaza shopping malls. PFCC, Bandar Puteri Puchong.
IOI Boulevard is one of the business centres located here with retail and office units. A similar project by SP Setia namely Setia Walk Puchong has been completed. The project featuring commercial retail shops & office units with unique water pond landscape in the middle of the boulevard. Block E of SetiaWalk (also known as SetiaWalk Mall) has a gym (Celebrity Fitness), a TGV cinema and a multiplex which houses a Subway outlet.
